Infographic: NSW’s food system – capacity, wastage and opportunities

Consider the following infographic which outlines current versus future challenges in securing NSW’s food future.

NSW Food System - Challenge and Opportunities

NSW Food System – Challenge and Opportunities

Among the key observations:

- the number of NSW farms has reduced significantly over the last 10 years,

- we’ll be feeding an additional 9.1 residents in the next 15 years, and

- virtually no consumers (only 6%) are successfully getting the recommended daily fruit and veg numbers into their diet.

So many challenges, but also so many opportunities to consider.

How will NSW and Australia address both of these through smarter user of currently available, and not-yet-developed, technology?
